Week of May 29

Wow! This year is flying by.   Field Day is scheduled for Friday.  Students - remember to dress comfortably.  Wear tennis shoes and put on sunscreen before coming to school.  Students will get the opportunity to sign yearbooks this Thursday.  Awards Day will be held on June 6th at 1:15PM.  The students last day is June 7th. They will be dismissed early this day.

Even though busy going here and there, we will still be reading "The Westing Game" and working on our poems.  The color poem is under construction now.  This beautifully decorated poem is an exercise in descriptive writing, using all five senses, as well as an exercise in design. Each student will design a "frame" that further describes the poem.

Students will be tested on Chapter 8 this week in math.  The test will be open notebook.  The students will be able to use all of their notes from Chapter 8.  We have learned all operations with integers.  We have also learned how to solve equations with integers and identify functions.

In Science, we will do a few more labs before the end of the year.  This week, students will participate in a lab that teaches about Chemical Equations.  Next week we will do a lab in which we identify acids and bases.

We have just finished reading "The Richest Man in Town," by V.J. Smith.  This is a great story!  Ask your child about it!  Students are creating wordles this week with Marty's different characteristics.
